Sin Ream is a 15-year old girl in the 4th grade here. She has one brother and three other sisters; she alone attends the school because all are married with children (she is the youngest). She ranks 1st out of a class of 32 students. She walks the short distance from her home to the school everyday.
“My father died 15 years ago. My mother and my siblings make a living as farmers.”
“My favorite subject in school is Khmer literature because I like to learn languages. I don’t know what I want to be when I grow up yet though because I doubt that I’ll be able to continue my education.”
“During my free time, I like to play jump rope, jumping jacks, and just run around. I’d like to travel to Angkor Wat or Phnom Penh in the future, but I don’t think that I’ll really ever have that chance.”
“The old building was pretty hard to study in, especially because of the falling leaves and so forth, but it’s easy to study in the new one.”
