The Eugene Katz School

Khat Chaya is a 13-year-old 6th grade student in the Eugene Katz school. He ranks number 2 among his classmates. Chaya has 7 siblings. His mother is farmer and his farther was a former government solider, but he lost one of his legs when stepped on a landmine. Now he works for a local NGO in the district.

“In the school curriculum, I like applied sciences because it explains about the earth, plus agriculture and cattle raising, which is the aspect I like the most,” he said.

“I want to be a teacher because I like teaching children and helping younger students in my community,” Chaya said.

“If I have a chance and enough money, I would like to go to Phnom Penh during the water festival. I would like to see a big crowd of people and tourists, the boat racing and fireworks,” he said.
