The Josef and Maria Baumann School
Mr. Moeug Puthie Rithy is the 30-year-old school director of The Josef and Maria Baumann School (primary school). His house is near to the school and he rides his motorbike to school every day.
He was working as a teacher at the primary Trapaing Krahorm School since 2002. Then he was assigned to work in The Josef and Maria Baumann School. He is working at this school from 2004.
“I am very happy to get this job, I love my school and my students,” he said, adding: “Even though I am a director I am also in charge of teaching two classes, 1st and 2nd.” He wants his students to be able to write and read correctly in Khmer.
The students were often absent because of the distance between the school and the homes of the students and the hard living situation living: many villagers are very poor.
“All school children feel very happy to study in a nice building. They always work hard at school”, the school principal said.
