The Kamata Family School

Rann Sarak is an 18-year-old grade 8 student at The Kamata Family School. Sarak has seven siblings and he is the fourth child in his family. His parents are farmers. He lives about one kilometer from school and he comes to school on his bike.

“In the school’s curriculum, the subjects I like the most are Khmer literature, Biology and Geography. Khmer literature teaches me more about my mother tongue, which I must understand clearly and learn to speak, write and read. Biology teaches me about the world’s natural environment and its animals. Besides these subjects, I like to learn computer and English skills,” he said.

“When I grow up I want to be a staff of a non-government organization, because in such an organization I think that I can earn a good salary to feed my family,” he said.

“If I have enough money, I would like to visit other provinces and other places in Cambodia, especially the Angkor Wat temples,” Rann Sarak said.
