Ean Navoeun is a 12-year-old grade 4 student at The Kazue and Hiroshi Sasaki School. She ranks as second best student among her 35 classmates during the second semester of this school year. She has 4 siblings and she is the second daughter in the family. Her house is 1 Km from school and she walks to school with her classmates everyday.

“My parents are farmers we plant rice every year; we are poor farmers and depend on the weather.” “Last year we had a flood destroy our rice and vegetables, but this year we have no flood and my parents have a good rice harvest.” “When I have free time I like to help my parents by cooking rice, cleaning the house, and taking the cows to the field to eat green grass, I have 3 cows,” Ean Navoeun said.

“In the school curriculum I like Khmer language because I want read news about my country and I like Mathematics because I want to help my parents with their calculation, I like coming to school and I will study hard,” she said.

“When I grow up I want to be a teacher in my village because I want to teach children can read and write I think that it is a good job being a teacher,” she added.
