Soeun Puthnim is a 15-year-old 6th grade student at the Louise Zlatic Kielbik School. She is currently ranked number 1 the first semester of this year. She has an older sister who is married. Her mother is a farmer in the village and her father passed away when she was three years old. She walks five minutes to the school everyday.
“At school I am best at Khmer literature and weak in math, but I still prefer this subject although I’m weak in it.”
“After primary school I plan to go to junior high school about 10 kilometers away from home. I hope that I can pass the exam and enter the school.”
“My mother has no money to buy me a motorbike, or even a bicycle to go to school. I will probably have to move in with a relative who lives near the junior high school.”
“When I grow up, I want to be a doctor because I want to be able to provide good health care to my family, especially my mother.”
