Long Veasna is a 15-year-old 8th grade student at the Meyers Family School . She ranks number 1 out of her 40 classmates in the last semester of 2006. She has five siblings; two of her brothers attend in this new school and they are in grade 7. Her house is about seven kilometers from the school and it takes 25 minutes to get to the school on foot.

“My father is a farmer in the school village and my mom runs a small business at the village by selling groceries at home,” Veasna said.

“My favorite subject is Khmer language because I am good at doing grammar, dictation and homework,” says Veasna.

“I want to be a teacher because I wish to teach the younger children in my school village,” she said.
