The O Krieth Nippon

Foundation School

Chheun Phirum is a second grade student at the O Krieth Nippon Foundation School.
Out of the thirty-nine students in her class, she was ranked ninth.

On herself:

I am ten years old. I have three siblings. Two of them are at school. My parents are farmers.

On the new building:

I am very happy with the new school. I used to study at another school in a pagoda. The old school was not good. It didn’t look as nice as this one.

Favorite subject:

I like to study! I think Khmer is the most important subject, because I want to understand my own language well.

On her spare time:

I help my parents cook rice and wash cows. I wash them with water, because they are our capital for investment.

In the future:

When I grow up I still want to help my parents with their work. If I could do anything, I would like to be a ‘hired hand’ across the Thai border.

If she could travel anywhere:

If I could travel anywhere, I would go to my relatives’ house. It’s far away that way *pointing her finger southwards*
