The Cambodia Rural School Project

The O Krieth Nippon

Foundation School

Mr. Tan Sa Eng is the deputy director of the O Krieth Nippon Foundation School.

On himself I am forty-seven years old and have five children. My wife is a farmer. My house is four and a half kilometers away from the school, and I  go there normally by motorcycle.  I became a teacher in 1983, and I’ve been a deputy director since 1990.

On the new building:

The new school is good. We’ve never had a school building of such a good quality as this one. It must be very comfortable for the students to study there. The old school was not located here but near the pagoda. The building was made of the materials from an old Khmer Rouge kitchen. The villagers and I remade the kitchen into a school so that the students had a place to study.
