Khan Ry is a third grade student at the O Ta Lok Nippon Foundation School.
Of the twenty students in his class, he was ranked third.

On himself: I am twelve years old. I have six siblings. Two of them are at school. My parents are farmers. They plant rice, corn, and cucumber. I walk for half an hour every day to get to school.

On the new building: I am very happy with the new building, because it is made of concrete. We never had a building like this before. It is not broken and has no holes, like the old one has. With the old school, we have to stop classes every time it rains. My friends and I always get wet, and so do our books.

Favorite subject: I like math the most. It teaches me how to calculate. When you can calculate, nobody can cheat you in numbers.

On his spare time: I help my parents boil rice, fetch water from the well, clean the house, and find wood for the fire. When I have time to play, I like to play “Me Am Beok” (Hakki-sack).

After primary school: I would like to continue onto secondary school. I want to be a teacher, because I want to continue to learn. I like learning a lot.

If he could do anything: I would like to study in a foreign country, like Australia. I’d like to study ‘foreign studies.’
