The Cambodia Rural School Project
The Pothipreuk Nippon
Foundation School
Mr. Men Sovann is the village chief where the Pothipreuk
Nippon Foundation School is located, and also its caretaker. The house in
the background is his own, and adjacent to the new building.
On himself: | I am fifty-three years old and married. I have nine children. Two of them go to school, both in the first grade. I used to be a soldier, from 1968 until 2001. Now I am a farmer. I have a very simple life here. I am neither poor nor rich. I only want to live like everybody else.

On the new school: | I am grateful for the new school. Before, no other organization ever supported us. This is the first time a school has been donated to our children. I am very happy that my own children can study at the school as well. I guarantee the safety of this school. The land here belongs to the school and no one else. |
