The Cambodia Rural School Project
The Freshfields School
Puth Tun is fourty-nine years old. He farms with his wife. Together, they have a son and four daughters. Two of the daughters attend the school.
On the new building: | “I am very happy and excited that the donor built a school for my children to study in. My children will get knowledge from the school and a bright future. I wanted to build a school for the children myself, but was unable. The donor helped relieve me of this burden.”
|
On the old building: | “The old building had tiles as well, but many would be missing. For walls, we used dried palm leaves, but it did little to stop the wind. Because the old school was smaller as well, some of the children that now study here now had to go to another school, which for many meant a five-kilometer walk. ”

Plans for his children: | “I have no plans for my children. I only want them to study hard, and then decide for themselves what they wish to become.” |
