In Their Own Words
On school subjects: | “I like mathematics most because it is easy to understand. I dislike Khmer because it is boring.”
On his future: | “I plan to graduate from high school. Maybe my parents will allow me to study there. If I graduate it will be easy to get a job. I want to become a teacher.”
On leaving his village: | “I have left the village once to visit Siem Reap and Angkor Wat. I was nervous and happy when I saw the temple because of the history, because the rocks were so heavy and the buildings were big.”
If I could go anywhere…: | “I would go to Phnom Penh because I have never seen a big city before.” |
