Lo Soklom is a 14-year-old fifth grade student at the Aeon Jackfruit School.  She was ranked seventh among her 55 classmates.  She has three siblings, one older sister who dropped out of primary school, one younger brother in first grade with her, and another brother who will be starting school this fall.  Her parents are farmers and she walks the 1 km to school.

In Their Own Words. . .

On the new building:  “I like the new building because it makes me want to study.  It is also easy to study here.”

On school subjects:  “I like Khmer because I want to know Cambodian history.  I dislike math because it is hard for me to calculate.”

On her future:  “Neither my older sister or my parents finished primary school.  I want to graduate from primary school, and then secondary school, and maybe university.  I want to become a teacher when I grow up.”

Message for the Aeon Group: “As a student at this school, I would like to thank the donor for this concrete and good looking building which is a good for the village.”
