Reth Sarem is 13 years old. He is in the fifth grade a the The Kuniko-Uchida School, and is ranked 9th in his class.

In Their Own Words. . .

on his parent: “My father is Reth. He is 61 years old. He is a farmer, and he makes beds. My mother, Hy, is 50 years old. She is a farmer and she sells bananas in the market.”

 

on his siblings “I have two bothers and two sisters. My oldest brother and sister help my parents work. My other older brother and younger sister are students, also.”

 

on the new school: “I am happy with the new school building because it is a very beautiful building of good quality.”

 

on his schools subjects: “I like mathematics because I want to learn this skill for the future. I do not like Khmer because I find it difficult to read.”

 

when he is not studying: “In my free time, I take water from the river and put it into a water tank. When I meet my friends, I like to tell funny stories.”

 

on his future: “When I grow up I want to be a doctor because I can earn a lot of money.”
