In Their Own Words. . .
On the new building: | “ I like the new tables, new walls, new windows, new bookshelf, and particularly the new computer and thy teachers who are teaching us English and computer skill. The old building did not have room for us to sit. It had no tables, and the rain would come in to the room.”
On school subjects: | “ I like social, mathematics, English and computer class. I want to know how to use computers because I have been hearing about them for a long time, but I have never seen one. I also want to learn how to speak English so that I can communicate with foreigners. I like mathematics because I get good scores in it. I dislike applied science and Khmer. I don’t like applied science because I find it very heard. Khmer is also very hard, especially dictation.
On her hobbies: | I like to read the books on history and society with my friends.”
On her future: | “ I plan to graduate from primary school and then for on to secondary school. I don’t plan to graduate form high school because my mother cannot afford it. My mother is also getting old. When I stop studying, I think that I will help my mother in her business. My mother wants me to graduate from high school as well. She only finished fourth grade.”
If I could go anywhere…: | “ I would go to America because I have heard that there are many interesting things there.”
If I could do anything……: | “ I would be a nurse, and help my relatives and the patients in this village.” |
