Vour Huon

Houn is 14 years old and she studies in 8th grade at The Tmor  Berk  School #351, located in Kampong Trach District, Kampot province, donated by Clarie Frankel.

Houn live in Koh Chamka Village, Beoung sala KhangTboung Commune, Kampong Trach District, Kampot Province. There is six members in her family, She is the younger sister in the family, with 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Her father name is Lem Bech 52 years old And her mother is Treth Sina 49 years old and they are farmers. Her family is poor and owned half hectare of farmland for growing rice. The rice can produce 14bags of rice in per year (1 bag of rice is equal 160kg). After the rice’s yield collection her parents sold out for 9 bags and got $170 to paid back to shop owner for the cost of fertilizers and the remaining money is paid for the food but it was not enough for daily expenses in a whole year. Therefore, besides the growing rice, her father had to seek another job to work as moto Taxi and her mother make basketfuls for sale at the market and the income that he could get in per week was $7 in order to patch up on food. However that $5 was not the regular income for their daily food.

As for Houn, she is studying very hard and she is a good student in the class. After school, she helps her parents to do housework. In her free time, she likes to read books and review the lessons from school.

For Houn’s future goal: Houn wants to be a nurse when she grows up. She wants to help all the kids in her village and also she wants to earn money to support her family.
