(October, 2001)

Mr. Seun Try is the director of the Eric Ratanak Grady Grossman School.  His wife is a farmer and they have four children.  He walks the five km from his home to the school every day.

In Their Own Words. . .

On his experience: “I am 32 years old, and I graduated from the teacher training school in the provincial capital in 1992.  After that I went to teach at a primary school in another town for three years.  In 1996, I was moved here.  I became a teacher because there is a shortage of teachers with education.”

On school subjects: “Among the four subjects at the school, I prefer teaching mathematics because I think that it is a high priority for daily life.  I want my students to know how to calculate for shopping and daily business dealings.”

On the new building: “Since we built the new school, children can study even when it rains.  Now, we have no problem with the weather.  With the new school building, I hope that children can keep coming to school regularly.”
