The World Mate School

Number Ten

August, 2001

Mr. Tem Sareurn, director of The World Mate School No. Ten.

In Their Own Words. . .

On the new building: “I am very happy with the new school building because it facilitates teaching.  In comparison the old building had a leaking roof, no walls and the children had to sit on the floor.”

On teaching: “During the Khmer Rouge I was a teacher.  I like to teach children and help them improve their knowledge.  The villagers support me in my work.”

On school subjects: “The children like two subjects, mathematics and Khmer, and they also like English and French because they believe these subjects are very important.  I like to teach all subjects because I want the children to have general knowledge first.”

On the community: “The school community is very happy because they know that with this new school building their children will gain knowledge.  We are also trying to build a sports ground and obtain scientific teaching equipment for the applied science classes.”

Message for the donor:  “I would like to thank the donor very much and wish him good luck and great success.”
