The Cambodia Rural School Project

  The Thnout Nippon

Foundation School

(November, 2001)

Mr. Vean Rin is a farmer with three children at the school

In Their Own Words. . .

On the new building: “I think the new building is a sign of progress in the village, because it is new and solid and made in a way we have never seen before.  All the kids in the village can go to get knowledge there.  Before, we were trying to get a new building from the government, but the villagers thought that we didn’t have a chance.  It is unbelievable that we received this building as a donation.  Thank you.”

On the importance of education:  “It is important for kids to try and study hard so that they can have good jobs and be good people in the future.  I think that my kids like Khmer and mathematics best, because they are the most important subjects for their real lives.”
