Foundation School

Koev Loum is an 11-year-old, second grade student at the Sre Chang Nippon Foundation School

On himself:

I have two brothers and two sisters. Two of my siblings are in school with me. My father cuts bamboo in the forest. My mother is sick and stays at home. My house is a 25-minute walk away from here.

On the new building:

I am happy to study in the new school. The old school wasn’t as good. It always looked as though it was just about to fall down. It was also very difficult to study in: the roof was full of holes, and when the sun shone it got really hot.

Favorite subject:

I like writing poems.

On his spare time:

In my spare time I work at home. I collect water from a small river and bring it to our house. I also cut and chop firewood and cook rice.

If he could do anything:

I would want to own a business just like a rich man.

If he could travel anywhere:

Vietnam. I just want to visit it.
