Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

To Be Selected

Manit is a 16-year-old student in the 10th grade at The ASIJ School # 467 donated by American School in Japan. It is located in Chub Krom Village, Svay Leu Commune, Svay Leu District, Siem Reap Province.

Manit is the first child in the family. She has one younger brother. Her mother is a farmer and she has no father. Her family has no house and land so her mother and her younger brother live with their grandma and Manit stays with some teachers at school because her house is too far (51 kilometers from school). After harvesting rice, her mother works as a farmer in the village to get money to support the family but only makes 12000 riels per day. Manit’s mother didn’t let her come to school before because she is a girl and her mother had no money to support her to continue to study. She also needed her to help earn money to support the family but Manit did not give up and she now stays at school with teachers to study.

Manit is a student who pays attention, she tries hard to study and she gets good grades. She wants to be a good teacher when she grows up because she loves teaching young children in her village and would love to earn money to support her mother.
