Romam Sokay
Romam Sokay is 14 years old, a student in grade 6 at Sophie A. Krasowski School, located in Plor Village, Bor-Kham commune, Oyadav district, Ratanakiri Province.
Sokay has 6 siblings in an ethnic minority family. She is the youngest child in the family. Her parents are farmers and they have a plot of 1.5 hectares farmland where they could grow some cassava for the income production every year.
She said that, her parents can gather about 12 tons of cassava product per year. Her parents take the majority of income to compensate to the micro finance bank and the others debts like meals, dress and fertilizes that they have owed them during the year. These incomes are not enough to pay for the daily family need. So her father had a hard pursuit working as a worker the he can earn about 20.000 riels per day to support the family as well.
In the future, she wishes to be a teacher. Because she thinks that this job is necessary to develop education in the country, especially the next generation children.
