The Chey Mongkul Nippon

Foundation School

Sles Rohan (in the white shirt) is also a third grade student at the Chey Mongkul Nippon Foundation School. Rohan was ranked first in his class.

On himself: I’m thirteen years old. I have one brother and one sister. Both my parents fish for a living. Like most other villagers, my family is Muslim. Our home is a ten-minute walk from school.

On the new building: I like the new school much better than the old one. This is because the air is much better. We also have enough desks and more windows. The old school only had three windows per classroom, and in the rainy season water would leak from the roof. I like going to school a lot. I come here every day.

Favorite subject: My favorite subject is math. I am the top student in the subject.

On his future: I would like to become a merchant. I want to make money to support my parents.

If he could do anything: I would want to be a doctor, because then I could help the people in my village when they fall sick.

In his spare time: After school, I do my homework. Sometimes, I also help my brother cook the rice.

Favorite sport: Soccer.
