Meang Socheat is a 16-year-old, fifth grade student at the Mithapheap Nippon Foundation School.
Out of the 41 students in her class, she was ranked fourth.

On herself:

I have one elder brother. He is 23 years old and is married. My mother is a seamstress and my father works for the government. Our house is right next to the school.

On the new building:

I am very happy with the new school. In the old building we had problems with the rain. Whenever it rained, the rainfall would splash into the classroom through the walls and the roof, and we had to stop studying. The old school also lacked desks and chairs. We used rice bags as a substitute for chairs, as otherwise we would have to sit on the floor.

Favorite subject:

My favorite subject is Khmer because it is easy for me to answer the questions the teacher asks me.

On her spare time:

I help my parents with their work at home. I cut clothes for my mother, and help my parents plant vegetables.

In the future:

I want to be a seamstress.

If she could do anything:

I would be a nurse and help the sick.
