Mr. Bon Lun is a rice farmer that lives right by the Sre Thom Nippon Foundation School.

On himself: I am thirty-one years old. I only have one child. I used to have three, but the other two died. My son studies at Hun Sen secondary school [the local secondary school] in the seventh grade. My wife is a farmer also.

On the new building: I am very happy with the new school. The new school can help the students around here to learn better. I would like to thank the donor who built this new school for the students to learn in. I’m very happy.

On the old building: When the students were learning and it started to rain, it was difficult for them to study. The old school was decrepit. When the wind was blowing, all the villagers would reinforce the building with a large column, to keep the school from being blown over. I was worried about the children’s safety.

On the importance of education: I want my son to understand the Khmer language. When my son finishes school, I want him to have a good job. I would like my son to become a nurse. I never got further than fourth grade. My wife finished after third grade. Now my son is the most educated in the family.
