The Alvash and Betsy Dearth School

Mrs. Neth Sinang, the 52-year old director of the Alvash and Betsy Dearth School.

Mrs. Neth Sinang is the 52-year-old director of the Alvash and Betsy Dearth School. She has no children and her husband died many years ago. Now she lives with her nephew and her mother.

She started teaching in 1979 after the country was liberated from the Khmer Rouge regime. In 1990 she was made the deputy school director of the Prey Chhor Primary School, about 3 kilometers from the current school. After 5 years, she was promoted to be the director. She was transferred to the Alvash and Betsy Dearth School when the school was completely built. The number of kids was gradually increased since the start because the school has been built in a central place that permits the admission of the children from the three nearby villages.

Before the school was built, the villagers always sent their children to study at the school far away from their homes. Now we are very happy with the new building that is near to their homes.

“I am very glad with the new building because the deprived children can go to school.”
