Yem Kosal is a 12-year-old grade 5 student at The Lily School. He ranks number 1 out of his 40 classmates in the first semester of this school year. He has 6 siblings and he is the third child in the family. His house is about 200 meters from school. He walks to school everyday with his friends.

“My parents are farmers we plant rice, grow vegetable and feed chickens to support the family. Beside that my father goes in to the forest to find bees, collecting honey to make traditional medicine and sell it to villagers as well,” He said.

“In the school’s curriculum, I like to study Mathematics because I am not good with it so that is why I try to study it now I like it,” Yem Kosal said.

“I want to be a teacher when I grow up because I like teaching very much I will teach all the people in my village,” he added.
