Sreymom is a 12-year-old student who is attending in 4th grade at Torn Lorng Le School in O’Chum district and Ratanakiri province.
Sreymom is an ethnic minority student who has only one brother and nor sister in the family. She is the first child in the family. Her parents are farmers and they have one hectare and half of farmland for sowing rice. Sreymom narrated that every year her parents can produce rice between 700kg to 800kg per year because of her parents grow rice depend on rainfall. Being as the farmer it really hard to earn money from doing farming because her parents never earned enough money to support the family so they always tried to find some more work to be a grass cleaner, a cashew nut picker and a potatoes digger in order to earn about 5 US dollars for each one in a day, she said. Sreymom resumed that her parents feed animals at home such as chickens and pigs, too. At the free time she helps her parents cooking rice, washing clothes and cutting grasses.
In the future, Sreymom wants to be a Khmer teacher because she loves teaching Khmer literature to the kids so much. Furthermore, she thinks being as the teacher is easier than being as the farmer then a bright future will reach her family someday.
