Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Mon Sreydoeun

Mon Sreydoeun is 13 years old and she is a student in grade 8 at the Pluk secondary School in kat pluk village, Prekel commune, Kong Pong Speu Province.

There are four members in her family, parents and two sisters. She is the first child in her family and her youngest sister is a student in grade 6th. Father’s name is Soy Sor and he is 43 years old. Her mother’s name is Sum Nasy and she is 42 years old. They are farmers and family is so poor, which they can produce 800 kg of rice per year. After finish from farm work, her parents are going to hired laborer can receive wage 15,000 riel per day for one person, but they can’t do every day. They are growing a few vegetables for family. Everyday, their families are very hard of living and they are trying to earn money for their children. For rice production per year there is not enough for daily eating. Her parents are happy because srey doeun was supported in Girls be ambitious program. They would like to express gratitude to the organization and sponsors of the scholarship of their daughter, even though it is not sufficiently supportive of the family’s needs, but also reduces her family’s expenses. Mon Sreydouen promised to come to school regularly and the money that she received from her donor will keep for buying the school supplies.

Mon Sreydouen is a good student in class and sometime, she has explain the lesson to her classmates when they are not understand and after school she always help her mother to do housework.

In the future, Mon Sreydouen wants to be a teacher in her village because she thinks that the teachers have been able to support a lot of social work, especially human resources training and she would like to support her family to live in a better life.
