The Josef and Maria Baumann School
Van Pitat is a 10-year-old grade 3 student at The Josef and Maria Baumann School. He was ranked number 2 out of his thirteen classmates in the first semester of this school year.
Van Pitat is the fifth child in the family. He has nine siblings: four boys and five girls. His parents are farmers on two hectares of land they use for rice cultivation. The house is near to the school, but his family members have to walk about 5km-6km to the rice field.
“I help my parents in the rice field every weekend”, he said.
“When I grow up, I want to be a teacher because I can teach the other children in the village,” he said.
