Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Yong Houy

Yong Houy is 8 years old, a student in 3rd grade The Ascham School community, in Poutaing village, Romney commune, Senmonorom district, Mondulkiri province.

Yong Houy has one brothers and including her. She is a first child in the family. The family owns haft hectare of farmland to grow rice and vegetables. The family can produce a little bit of rice and some vegetables every year. Not all the income that they can gain are enough to provide the need of the family. Out of the work in farm, they have to do extra labor work to build a wooden house for the villagers and they can earn about 40,000 riels per day. However, her parents are pushing her to study hard so that she can get better future than they are.

In the future, Houy wants to be a nurse because she wants to look after her family and the help the people of her commune. Additionally, she wants to help financial support to her family and provide them with a better life.
