Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Rith Puthrea is 13 years old and is in the seventh grade. She lives in Doung village, Choum Songkea commune, Kompong Speu province.

She is the second child in her family and has eight siblings: six sisters and two brothers.

Her father’s name is Sars Chanruth. He divorced her mother and has never helped or provided for the family.

Her mother’s name is Kim Neuorn. She is 38 years old and works in the factory. She earns about $150 per month.

The family has their farmland of about 45A where they can produce about 500kg to 700kg of rice per year.

Every day, Puttrea helps her mom cook for her whole family, clean the house, and goes to school. In her free time, she likes to spend time at home and sometimes likes to go pick up the mangoes so she can earn some extra money to help her family. Puttrea’s favorite color is purple and her favorite animal is a parrot.

In the future, she wants to become a doctor because she wants to help the patients in her local community and help her family achieve a better life.
