Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Lath Sreymol is a 13-year-old student in 6th grade at Tropheang Chres primary school in Mouy village, Tropheang Chres commune, Khonmom district, Ratanakiri province.

Leakna has two siblings, one sister and one brother, and she is second child in family. Her parents are farmers who own one hectare of farmland and one cow. They grow rice once a year due to limitation of water. The yield of rice is one ton per hectare. This is not enough to feed family whole year, so her parents work as seasonal workers and they earns about $8.75-$10 per day. Leakna has to help her mother to do chore in housework and to take care of her younger sister.
