Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Chem Nita

Chem Nita is a 14 year-old student who entered the Girls Be Ambitious program in 2014. At the time, she enrolled in the fifth grade at The Lotus School in Prek Dambouk Village, Kampong Chamlorng Commune, Khsach Kandal District, Kandal Province. She is now in the seventh grade.

Nita was born in a poor family with 6 members: her parents, two sisters and two brothers. Her parents are workers at garment factory where they earn $ 180 per month. Unfortunately, this is not enough money for the family because they need to buy rice, food, school outfits, clothes, and other daily items. Nita likes her studies but she cannot regularly attend class. She must help her family to do house work and feed a buffalo.

She maintains her perfect attendance.
