Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

San Sreyly is a 10-year-old student in 2nd Grade at the Sunnyside School, located at Prasat village, Prasat commune, Prey Chhor district, Kampong Cham province.

There are ten people in the family. San Sreyly has seven siblings. She has three brothers and four sisters. She is the fifth child in the family. Her father’s name is Chao San. He’s 48 years old. He is a fisherman. He could earn around $80 per month. Her mother’s name is Srun Sokhorn. She is 47 years old. She is a house wife. Every day she cook food for her whole family. Her parents have no their own farm land. They sometimes work as a farmer for the villagers around the villages to get some wage around $5.00 per day during rice season for family to support children to school. Their parents’ monthly income could not support the family. Her parents feels so happy to send her daughter to school and will encourage her to get success. They thank to the donor who has kind heart
to help Sreyly. Sreyly is a good student in the class. Sreyly has to walk to school and back home every day because her parents could not afford a bike for her. After school she helps take care of her brothers and help her parents’ work. She also take time to study more at home.

She commits to finish high school and wants to be a teacher so that she can teach the young people in the village. She wants her family to live a better life.
