A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

To Be Selected

Hum Sanin is 16 years old and she is a student in 10th grade at Rovieng High School, located about 5 kilometers from her house that she has to ride bicycle to school.

Hum Sanin has three siblings, one brother, one sister and she is the first child in her family. Her parents are farmers and they feed ten hens and three pigs. Her family owns a plot of village land where they built a small house to live. Her family living is depending on working at rice field. They have produced rice in the share farmland with other villagers, they can get about 1.5 tons per year. To survive the daily living of family, her parents have to sell a part of rice about 1 ton in the price $200. However, this income is not enough to support the family, especially for Sanin’s study supplies. She cannot go to school regularly, because she has to help her parents to do some other works to generate income to help support family.

In the future, she wants to be a Khmer teacher, because she would be able to get a good job and salary for her. And other wise, she wants to share her knowledge to the children in the field of education.
