Norn Sreyneth is a thirteen years old student in the sixth grade at Wat Thmey primary school, located in Takhong village, Trean commune, Kampong Siem District, Kampong Cham province.
Sreyneth has three sisters and is the second child in the family. Her mother is a housewife and her father is a motor driver, earning 10,000 Riels a day, which is not enough to support the family. The family is very poor and cannot support Sreyneth’s studies. In rainy season, Sreyneth catches crabs and oysters in the rice fields to sell in the market, and during the dry season, she picks mangoes, earning 500 Riels/kg.
In the future, Sreyneth wants to be a teacher because she wants to educate young children in her village. Moreover, she wants to earn money to support her family.
