Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

To Be Selected

Eoung Eng is an eleven-year-old student in the fourth grade at Wat Thmey primary school located in Takhong village, Trean commune, Kampong Siem district, Kampong Cham Province.

Eng has four siblings, one brother and three sisters. She is the second child in the family. Her parents are farmers, but only have enough land to provide food for the family, and not enough for selling.  As a result, Eng’s parents work as seasonal workers, earning 25,000 Riels every three days.  Eng is a good daughter and when she is not studying, she is helping her mother with housework.

In the future, she wants to be a doctor because her father is ill and she wants to be able to help him and others in her village. Most importantly, she wants to earn money to support her family.
