Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Morn Raksa was born on July 05, 2004 in Mkak village, Cham Pei Commune, Baty District, Takeo province. She is in the 8th grade at Trakiet Secondary school (The Rita Hochhauser School).

Morn Raksa has 9 siblings, 2 brothers and 7 sisters including her, she is the seventh child in family. Among of her 9 siblings, 6 of them are married and 3 of them are single. Her brother and her sisters are studying in the same school. Her father’s name is Mr. Morn Nem, 50 years old and her mother’s name is Suong Ny, 45 years old, both of them are farmers. Her family owns one hectare of farmland where they can earn around $250 per year from rice products. Out of growing rice, her father took his rest time to run a moto-taxi for extra earn about 30,000 riels by day. Her mother is a housewife, she is always stays home and takes care all children and does a lot of housework. Not all the total income that they can generate are enough to support the family’s daily life.

Morn Raksa wants to be a Khmer teacher. Because she wants to help people who are illiterate to know and understand well about Khmer language in her village.
