Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

To Be Selected

Nen Sopheak is a 12-year-old student in the 5th grade at the Cambodia Hope School in Melum village, Melum commune, Baribour district, Kampong Chhnang province.

Sopheak has three members in her family, her grandmother, her younger sister and herself. Her father’s name is Nun Sophal and he lives in Thailand for work.  Her mother’s name is  Breng Thul passed away many years ago, since she was young.

Grandmother’s comments: now she lives with her grandmother, she is a grandchild, she looks after her, but she is old enough to not grow rice, he can cultivate around the house for a little, and he half a hectare to his neighbor, to store rice and sell about 100,000 riels to buy food, but her father works in Thailand but does not support Sophak. $10 she gave her grandmother to buy food and buy school supplies.

Sopheak is good student and daughter. She works hard in class, and when she is not studying, she is helping her grandmother with housework.

In the future she wants to become a teacher. She wants to share her knowledge and teach the children in her commune. Moreover, she wants to earn money to help support her family.
