Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Khy Khea is 14 years old. She is in the grade 8 at Donduong Secondary School, and she lives in Preysrange village, Balang Commune, Baray District and Kampong Province.

Khy Khea has 8 siblings 5 sons and 3 daughters and she is the youngest child in her family. Her parents are farmers, they had owning maybe one hectare of farmland this family is able to collect really 16 sacks for this year, the rain season so short and the atrophy of rice, and her family is very sad. Because they has a big members like this. They didn’t have enough food for eat this year, so they try to find other jobs such as: works as pickers of corns, picker of watermelons and sometime works as construction of worker in their district for money. They get around 20000riels for one person per day from their work, but it is not every day. Khy Khea was born in a poor family, she get 500 or 1000riels a day for her studies and she always rides her bike to school every day. Khy Khea really wants to studies until graduate. She is a hard work and is always a good student in class. She is a good daughter and good students in class, too. And she always to help her mother with housework every time.

In the future Khea wants to be a nurse because she wants to look after her family and to cure other people when they get sick and she wants to support her family.
