Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Sreytin is a 16 years old student in 8th grade at The IROHA School #470, which is located in O Svay village, O Svay commune, Thalaborivath district, and Stung Treng province.

Sreytin was born in a poor family and she has gotten three siblings including her. She is the third born in the family. They have owned a small plot of land which produced 25 sacks of rice’s fruit per year. Sreytin pronouncedly confirmed that amount 15 sacks of the 25 sacks of rice were sold out to the merchantmen because her parents needed some profit to pay for food, ailment’s treatment and the cost of rice’s fertilizers.

Even though, Sreytin claimed that for the small income which her parents had earned from the rice selling wasn’t sufficiently covered for her school supplies and school uniforms. Therefore, she sometimes asked permission from school for three days in order to work as a cashew seeds’ collector for neighbors’ farms due to get little income to pay for her schooling.

For her future goal, she wishes to become a specialized teacher of mathematic because she prefers to teach this subject to the kids of a next generation.
