Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

To Be Selected

Man Ny is a 15 year-old-student in the 8th grade at The Kozak Ohana School #285 in Chey Village, Chey Commune, Kampong Svay District, Kampong Thom Province, Cambodia.

Man Ny has five siblings and is the eldest child in her family. She is a the Trapaing Arak Seconday School or The Kozak Ohana School # 285. Man Ny’s family owns half a hectare of farmland, but in recent years, they have not been able to grow rice as their fields have been too flooded. As a result, her parents have had to find work in the village to support the family’s needs. The jobs that Man Ny’s parents have pay very little, and not nearly enough to comfortably support the family, so her parents regularly work two jobs. As Man Ny’s parents are busy at work, it is her responsibility to look after her younger siblings, which makes her often miss school. Even though Man Ny is busy at home and commonly misses school, she never gives up trying and working hard on her studies.
