Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Chhoeun Sopheann is 14 years old and she is in 8th grade at The Milton School, which is located in Tuol Prich village, Mean Commune, Prey Chhor District, Kongpong Cham province.

There are 5 member is her family, parents, an older sister, 2 younger brother and her. She is a second child in the family. Her father name is Mr. Chhorn Chhoeun and her mother name is Lo Sophy. Her mother and father are famers who own one hectare of farmland to grow rice, producing 700 – 1,000 kg per year but they don’t sell and keep for every eating. Additionally to being farmers, after finish the growing rice, her parents also work as laborers and get 5$ in per day for one person, but the family still in difficulty to cover their needs. Sometime, Sopheann doesn’t have the money to buy her school supplies but she always tries come to school everyday. She is a good students and she gets a high score in class.

In the future, she wants to be a teacher because she loves this job, she likes teaching and she wants to share her knowledge to the kids. Moreover, she wants to earn money to support her family.
