Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Phen Sokleap is 14years old and she is in the grade 8th at the Milton School, which is located in Toul Prich village, Mean Commune, Prey Chhor District, Kompong Cham province.

There are 6 members in her family, Parents, 2brothers and 2 sisters. She is a second child in the family. Her brother has stopped from school and helps his parents to do the field. Her sister is study in grade 5th and her youngest brother is study in grade 2th at the same her school. Her father name is Mr. Som Pheap and her mother name is Koe Theary, both of them are farmers. The family have their owns lad for 2 hectare for growing rice and they are producing for 4 tons in per year and they are selling for 2 tons, get 400$ and they are keeping 2 tons for daily eating. After they are finished from the rice farm, Her father has to carry the sack of cement and gets 5$ in per day and her mother selling a little bit cakes at home.  Even they try to earn more income but they still do not have enough money to support the family and their children’s everyday needs.

Phen Sokleap’s a good student and daughter. She always gets a good score in class and after school she always her mother to do housework.

In the future she wants to become a doctor because she wants to cure all the people in her village, she thinks that in her location is far from hospital. She wants to help financially support her family and provide them with a better life.
