Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Srey Pov 12 years old and studies in the 7th grade at The Svay Chek Secondary School, located in Anlong Spean village, Svay Chek Commune, Romdoul District, Svay Rieng province.

Srey Pov has 3 siblings and she is the third in the family. Her father‘s name: Mr. Ech Thoeurn and her mother’s name: Um Vantha, both of them are farmers. The family owns one hectare of farmland in which they can earn up to $250 a year in rice product. Out of the work in his rice field, her father has to find the other jobs that sometimes one day they can earn $4 to $5. Even with this additional income, the parents still cannot support the family and their children’s study needs. Therefore, Srey Pov has to come late to school because she need to prepare food for her siblings before coming school.

She wants to be a doctor to cure all the people in her location; she saw that her location is far from hospital.
