Touch Mo
Touch Mo is 11 years old, a student in 4th grade at The Ascham School community, in Poutaing village, Romney commune, Senmonorom district, Mondulkiri province.
There are 6 members in her family, two parents, two sons and two daughters. Mo is the first child in the family. Her parents are farmers who own half hectare of farmland to grow cashew trees and some pepper plants that give them yield of 100 kg of cashew nuts per year and some peppers. The family is able to sell some of the cashew nut, peppers, by earning 400,000 riels in season, and the rest are used as food for the family. During hot season (2 months) her parents go into the deep forest to find some bee honeys to sell that they can earn about 30,000 riels a day.
Mo is a good student and daughter. She works hard in class, and when she is not studying or in public holiday, she is helping her mother with housework, taking care her younger siblings or picking mangos to sell to support the family.
In the future, Mo wants to be a Khmer teacher. She wants to share her knowledge and teach the children in her commune about Khmer letters and Khmer stories. Most importantly, she would like to be able to support her family and give them an opportunity to live a better life.
