Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Toch Sreythoan is 17 years old and she is a student in grade 10 at kulen high school. She lives in Damnakk Kantuot Village, Khum Thmey Commune, Kulen District, Preah Vihear Province.

There are five members in the family, grandparents, uncle, one brother and her. Her parents died since she was young. So she lives with her grandparents. They have only one hectare of farmland for growing the rice and they can produce 3000kg of rice in per year. They are keeping for 1000kg of rice for daily eating in a whole year and sold for 2000kg of rice, get 500$ for support their whole family in a year. Even they get the income but they still live in a hard situation. Sreythoan goes to school is about 9 kilometers by bicycle. Sometimes, when her bike has problem or has a flat tire, she will be absent for one or two day and sometimes she goes to school with her friends.

In the future, she wants be a teacher because she wants to teach and share her knowledge to the next generation. Moreover, She wants to support her family to live in a better life.
