Girls Be Ambitious

A program that enables girls who are unable to go to school due conditions of poverty to attend one of our rural schools and receive an education instead of having to work in the fields, do chores at home or take care of siblings.

Chhen Chhaiheng was born on 13, December 2005 in Dom Nak Pong Ror village, Mean Commune, Prey Chhor District, Kam Pong Cham province. She is in the 8th grade at The Milton School, which is located in Tuol Prich village, Mean Commune, Prey Chhor District, Kam Pong Cham province.

Chhaiheng has 3 siblings and she is third in the family. Her father ‘s name is Mr. Chhen Chhay and her mother name is Thorng Peang, both of them are farmers. This family have owns one hectare of farm land; in which they can earn up to $300 a year in rice production. As this is not enough to support the family’s needs, Chhaiheng’s father commonly has to go on trips to be a slave. He has to carry the sack of cement. One day they can earn $6. This means, that even with this additional income, the parents do not have enough money to support the family and their children’s everyday needs. As a result, Bun commonly has to miss school to stay home and help to care for her siblings or help in the rice field and other housework. Chhaiheng’s goal wanted to be a Teacher.

She wants to teach all the people in her location, she thinks that in her location is far from School.
